my little brother and me.

Last Wednesday, I had the day off of work, so I invited my little brother, Landon, to come and spend Tuesday night and all day Wednesday with us.

Tuesday night we made hawaiian pizza for dinner and watched Pitch Perfect. That movie kills me.
He slept on our couch [it was that or the air mattress & our couches really are quite comfortable. Not bad for being free 2 1/2 years ago...]

The next morning, we woke and did some yoga with Jillian Michaels on YouTube. When I picked this yoga video, I didn't really think that since it was Jillian it would be crazy. I should have thought about it.

It was more like... aerobic yoga.
intense aerobic yoga.
intense sweaty aerobic yoga.
intense sweaty shaking aerobic yoga.

I was tricked by the word yoga and thought it would be relaxing and enjoyable but still exercise. Oh, Jillian... It was definitely exercise, but it was definitely not relaxing... At one point, Landon sat on the couch, drank half his water bottle, and said "this is hard." Fact.

After intense sweaty shaking aerobic yoga, we ate some breakfast and then went to Hobby Lobby to pick out a craft project to do later. We didn't have a specific goal in mind, all we knew was that it had to be fun, easy, and involve my freakin' sweet Cricut machine. So, after wandering the aisles for almost 45 minutes, we decided on ceramic soup bowls and sharpies. We don't take this crafting stuff lightly.

By the time we made up our minds, the Logan Aquatic Center was finally open [it doesn't open until noon... kind of dumb if you ask me...] so we went home and changed into our swim gear, ate some lunch, and headed to the pool!

We got there, planted our belongings on a table, and headed to try out one of the two water slides. It was twirly and the water wasn't too chilly, which I liked. I'll be honest, I was the oldest person in line. Landon was the 2nd oldest person in line. We felt a little awkward... After we got over ourselves, we hopped into the deep pool and swam around, chatted, and just hung out for a while. It was pretty windy that day so we didn't even try to get out of the water for fear of freezing our buns off.

About an hour or so later, we were sufficiently pruned and I needed to visit the ladies room so we climbed out of the pool, ran to our towels, and relaxed and dried for a little while before heading home to craft it up.

We pulled out our plain white soup bowls and sharpies, put some "Phineas and Ferb" on the TV, and went to work. [I forgot how ridiculously funny that show is...] We used the Cricut to cut out sticker templates that we traced with our sharpies. Landon wanted a twirly design and I used a heart. I think they turned out pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. After we were done coloring them, we popped them in the oven for about 30 minutes at 375ish. Then we let them cool while still in the oven. I kind of think we rock at this whole bowl decorating thing. We decided next time we're going to get plates.

We were still in the crafty mood and I had seen this pretty canvas on Pinterest that I really wanted but couldn't afford. So, I pulled out a cheap-o canvas from Michaels, some paint, and some foam brushes and let Landon make one for me! Can you say talented? It was pretty simple, but it turned out exactly how I imagined it. Landon even let me contribute to his masterpiece a teeny tiny bit.

Pretty awesome right??

Then my parents showed up with Sixlets and Lofthouse cookies to bribe me into letting Landon return home with them. [did you know that Smith & Edwards has a candy aisle where everything is like 10 for $1 or 20 for $1? yeah, me neither.]

Thanks for coming to stay with me, bud! I had a fantastic time and can't wait for you to come stay again!
I love you!

Bucket List # 20: Visit City Creek

On Friday, our dear friend Jake and Emily got married in the Salt Lake Temple. It was beautiful day! A little windy but nice and sunny!
We were so lucky to be able to go and be with them that day.

After the sealing and pictures, we had a little bit of time before we had to head to the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch so we decided to walk over to City Creek and take a look around.
Cam, Jake, and Steven went to check out the fish while Maddi, Hilary [a friend of Emily's], and I went to look through a couple different stores. It was fun! I love City Creek, even if I am too poor to shop at 99% of the stores there.
and Cam likes to check out the fish in the pond. So it works!

Hiking, Snow Cones, and a Garden. Bucket List #17[kind of], 22, and 35

The long weekend over Memorial Day was a busy one!

Cameron and I both got Saturday off as well as Monday {i LOVE bank holidays!}so we got to spend a lot of time together and it was lovely.

Saturday morning, we woke up and went to the Logan Temple with some friends. It had been a little while since we'd been able to go and it was exactly what I needed. I feel like right now I do a lot of waiting and worrying and wondering what will happen in our future. Being able to sit in the temple, those worries and questions all disappeared for the time we were there and it was amazing. I love the peace that comes from going to the temple...

i am not understanding the squished pictures. making me crazy but i have no idea how to fix it.
Afterwards, we packed up some water and snacks and went hiking up Green Canyon. [Now, I know this is not the Wind Caves, so I'm giving us 1/2 credit for now. ok?] It was beautiful!
Everything is so green right now and I love it! It was really nice to wander up the canyon chatting and enjoying the nature that we have so close to our home. It also helped me convince Cameron that hiking really is fun!

To top off our awesome day, we went and got snowcones. I got red raspberry and Cam picked sour green apple. They were delicious and helped cool us off after our time in the mountains. We then hopped in the truck with our belongings for a weekend away and headed down to spend time with our families.

That night, we made a trip to Home Depot and a handful of pots, a large amount of potting soil, some seeds and starts later, we started our first garden! I'm so excited for everything to grow up and start producing fruits and vegetables. There's just something better about growing it and harvesting it yourself. Although our little garden is tiny and potted, it'll be good to work on it together and help our little plants grow.
I'm so glad I have Cameron around to go along with my crazy projects and ideas.
**update: Its been like a week a half since we planted and we have sprouts! I'm feeling pretty amazing and like I have a serious green-thumb that I need to credit someone for.. now let's just hope i don't kill them.

We totally have radish and carrot sprouts., as well as baby strawberries. amazing.

I have a feeling its going to be a lovely summer :)

Big News!

Things have been pretty crazy around our house lately. I've done a lot of interviewing and working. Cam has been working a lot. We don't have oodles of time for fun things right now.

But that's not why you're reading this. You all saw the title and started guessing our big news.

It's pretty big, really awesome, very exciting news.

drumroll please...

.........................................................................................................

I got a teaching job!!!

Starting in August, I will be the newest 6th grade teacher at an elementary school in Ogden! I am nervous and excited. I never really pictured myself teaching 6th grade but, it feels right and like what we are supposed to do.

This will be just the start of quite a few changes for our family.
We get to relocate to North Ogden, which means a new apartment, new neighbors, and closer to our families...
Cameron gets to commute to Logan for school for the next 2 semesters. [He is AMAZING to even be willing to do it, even though it will most definitely suck somedays.]
All of this hard work and time in school has finally paid off!

I'm so blessed to have my family and Cameron because of they're support and patience with me, all of this has become possible!

Checking off number 34 on our bucket list :)

ps. i tried to find a cute little picture of a teacher to add in here but they were all weird... lame. haha
